Lake Windermere
Arguably the Lake Districts most popular location, Windermere is the largest lake in England. The 19th century Wray Castle is waiting to be explored with the gothic style building and surrounding gardens located on the shores of the lake itself. The area is also famously home to everyone’s favourite childrens story ‘Peter Rabbit’ which is celebrated through ‘The World of Beatrix Potter’ attraction which is open to the public throughout the year, perhaps you will enjoy a drink in the tea room or visit the wonderful Peter Rabbit Garden?

Ullswater
The second largest lake in England, the lake at Ullswater offers a superb location for an activity filled or relaxing holiday. With some of arguably the best walks in Britain, the views over Ullswater are a truly magnificent sight. If walking isn’t your thing there are many more outdoor activities you can get involved with including horse-riding and cycling. There are also many ways to get out and about on the lake and experience Ullswater in all it’s glory, many steam boat rides set off from various points throughout the day with the option of hiring sailing boats and canoes also available.

Derwentwater
Derwentwater is home to several popular landmarks, all of which can be explored on foot or bike. Cat Bells is one of many surrounding summits that provide stunning panoramic views of Derwentwater below. Ashness Bridge is a stone bridge that was constructed many years ago, with outstanding views over surrounding Derwentwater and other waterways this spot is well worth a visit.

Coniston Water
This 5 mile long lake located only a short drive from the neighbouring Lake Windermere is an excellent base for walkers and adventurers, with surrounding hills and mountains including Top o’Selside and The Old Man of Consiton, both of which are vast in size and provide a tough but rewarding hike to the peak, once at the summit views of the surrounding landscape are sure to take your breath away. If an activity break is what you’re after Consiton Water is home to a number of watersports and outdoor activities, the guys at Adventure 21 provide fun filled days out with activities including canyoning, canoeing, waterfall climbing and many more!
